Keyway Depth t: Obtained from table (approx. 0.3d~0.5d)
Hub Keyway Depth t₁: Obtained from table
Key Height h: Generally b (square) or 0.5b (thin)
Tolerance: Shaft keyway width N9, Hub keyway width J9

About Keyway Dimension Calculator

What is a Keyway?

A keyway is a groove machined on a shaft to install a key (parallel key, woodruff key, etc.) for circumferential fixation and torque transmission between shaft and hub. Keyway dimensions should be selected according to GB/T 1095 "Keys and Keyways" standard.

How to Use This Calculator?

Input shaft diameter d (mm), select key type (parallel key/woodruff key) and tolerance grade, then click "Calculate Parameters" to get key width b, keyway depth t, hub keyway depth t₁, and tolerance values.

Design Standard Basis

This calculator is calculated according to recommended values from GB/T 1095-2003 "Parallel Keys and Keyways" and GB/T 1096-2003 "Parallel Keys":
